The PEACE Project Prevention Education and Creative Expression When educating youth about societal issues affecting their lives, it has been proven that the most powerful educators are other young people. The use of drama is particularly effective to explore personal and sensitive issues surrounding violence. The P.E.A.C.E. Project is a traveling theatre troupe of over twenty-five young people from local high schools working together to produce an original theatrical performance that includes dramatic vignettes, poetry, dance, art and music. Since its formation, PEACE has reached over 6,000 people.

PEACE utilizes innovative issue-based theatrical techniques and peer education to reach out to diverse audiences. After each performance, PEACE members facilitate small group discussions with the audience regarding issues presented, answer questions and provide information about local resources.
All PEACE Project members receive extensive training on issues surrounding family and relationship violence, date/acquaintance rape, as well as basic crisis intervention, non-violent communication, reflective listening, and community resources. This training is conducted by staff of NFHC’s Community Education Program, as well as by other professionals in the Flagstaff community.
PEACE members perform for high school and middle school students throughout northern Arizona, as well as charter schools, local organizations, college and university students, community events, conferences, and health/social service professionals. The Project is flexible in its ability to perform to small classroom groups as well as large audiences.
